South Mountain trails in Emmaus, PA are located on Wildlands Conservancy property that is marked by yellow property border signs. Private property is clearly marked on the borders of the sanctuary land, please respect it. The initial climb to the summit is long and technically challenging with many log overs and rock gardens that will test a rider’s strength, power, balance and patience. This area contains a main loop, but includes several off-the-beaten-path ego-boosting (or bruising) trails. The network of trails is blazed but first-time visitors can check with locals or visit South Mountain Cycles on Main St. in Emmaus for route info. Make sure you have a spare tire (or patch kit) and quick links with you; there is a good chance you will be using it. An hour to 90 minutes is pretty average to ride most of the trails in this area. Access is found at the end of N. Alpine St. off of Emmaus Ave, and parking is available at Boro Line park. Trail head is behind the kiosk.
