South Mountain Emmaus trailwork

Your happy VMB trailcrew has been active in the last few weeks working with the Wildlands Conservancy to redesign a crucial trail over at South Mountain Emmaus. Since we're getting good at building sustainable trails the Wildlands folks asked for our help getting a sustainable trail up onto the mountain , avoiding all the muddy areas while we are at it.

A trail has been marked out that will lead to the area near the cistern. This will connect off some nice singletrack that is to the left as you head in from Alpine st and then hook into the ridgeline trail which is up the mountain a bit. When its finished hikers and mtn bikers will have a great trail to get up and down the mountain on, without the mud and impossible climbs, erosion and ruts.

The person to talk to is Mark Bowman of South Mountain Cycles in Emmaus. He knows the area as well as anyone and will set up the trailwork days and coordinate all of the activity with the Wildlands folks. From what I know the plan is to have people from the local bike clubs and a local hiking club do the trailwork.

The design stuff should be completed in the next week or so and after that its trailbuilding fun for anyone that is interested. If you would like to help out please stay tuned - a trailworking day could be announced shortly, hopefully for later this month.
