Yep, its time for the summer quick overnight backpack trip into Hell Creek. Its a relatively easy 1 hour backpack in. Set up camp then hike or take a plunge into the ice water pool. At night we will hike up on the glacial boulder fields under the stars. But its summer so beware the things that hiss and rattle! Watch This is a beginner friendly event. Well sort of. Ride the Green Blaze above the Switchback Trail in Jim Thorpe. Leave the Lehigh Valley at 8:30 and meet at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, by the boat ramp, at 9:45 am. The Green Blaze is very technical in spots and approximately 15 miles long, 3.5 hours plus. There is a mix of classic rocky Penna singletrack, Vermont swoopy pine forest, Utah like scenery, black coal trails with white birch trees, crystal blue ponds to dunk in near the end of the ride, and of course, Molly Maguires in downtown Thorpe for beers and eats afterward. The best part of the MASS series(www.masuperseries.com) is coming this weekend. Get your teams together and come out to marysville for a festival feel race. The weekend has been a blast in the past and never disappoints. Lots of cool prizes and not just for the fast racers either. Plus you get to race on a section i built over winter. (hope you can hop logs). Go to bikereg.com . I think the late fee is going to be waived too(i think) so dont stress too much. See ya the on friday night for the Lupine night time trial. This year i'll try to stay on course. |
